Jon Lester took the mound yesterday and took on the Oakland A’s.  The A’s leadoff hitter ended Lester’s bid for consecutive no hitters.  But nonetheless Lester still is an inspiration to any sports fan like myself. (Especially since Im a Sox Fan!) Lester was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2006 and Jon beat cancer and returned to the diamond.  He had an OK year last year and was actually the winning pitcher when the Sox won the World Series vs the Rockies last fall.  But no onw can doubt that the highlight of his career happened just 5 days ago.  I was watching the game and around the 5th inning I remember thinking “Man, Lester is looking really good tonight and I dont think he has given up a hit yet.” Thats when I thought he had a chance to throw the No-No….  I told my friend Dustin and Dusty that I felt like he was gonna do it and I stayed glue to NESN and watched every pitch in HD!  The best part to me was watching Lester and his teammates celebrate and the embrace that Tito and he had that you could tell was quite emotional for both of them.

Congrats Jon and you are an insipration to all of those who have battled cancer or have been affected by this horrible disease…..

Also, Jon Lester revealed on ESPN’s Sunday night conversation that his dad has been diagnosed with cancer as well…. Our prayers are with you Jon….

I have created this blog for others out there in the internet universe who are sports freaks like myself.  Let me start off by telling you a little bit about myself….  My name is Brad Haines and I live in Columbus, MS. I am a huge Boston Red Sox fan and my college teams are The University of Michigan and Mississippi State University.  I love all sports but mainly baseball, football and basketball.  In this blog I will be giving my opinions on all kinds of issues and stories in the sports world.

Welcome and I hope you continue to come back and enjoy yourself…..
